"I don't want to play a character who solves problems with a gun": Imran Khan

Fans are eagerly waiting for Imran Khan's return to acting, but he recently clarified that it won't happen anytime soon. In an interview, Imran mentioned that he's thinking about coming back to acting, but he hasn't found the right project yet. Back in 2023, there were reports that Imran would make his comeback on OTT with a spy series directed by his Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na director Abbas Tyrewala. However, Imran revealed during a chat with Film Companion that the show has been canceled. 

Imran also discussed why he isn't bothered by the series being canceled. "All things said and done, I am glad that ended up not coming together. I don't want to play a character who solves problems with a gun," he said. The actor also expressed his dislike for projects that depict gore and violence without consequences. "There is glamorization and fetishization, sexualization, of violence that makes me uncomfortable. There is a way to portray violence, and this is not a morality thing. Violence and action are a language within cinema, and when we portray them in films, there is a way to do it where you feel the weight of it," Imran said.

Imran also mentioned that scenes where heroes "shooting seven people in the heads and their heads exploding to music" make him uneasy. Imran's last movie appearance was alongside Kangana Ranaut in Katti Batti, released in 2015. He has acted in movies like Delhi Belly, Break Ke Baad, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, I Hate Luv Storys, Luck, Kidnap, and more.
